Anhidrosis (also called hyperhidrosis) is the absence of sweating in one or more parts of your body. It can lead to dangerous and even life-threatening conditions. Anhidrosis is generally caused by factors including skin trauma, certain diseases and medications. It occurs when your sweat glands don’t work properly, either due to a condition you’re born with or dehydration. In most cases, Anhidrosis can’t be prevented, and the risk is the same in both men and women.
Signs and symptoms of anhidrosis include:
- Dizziness.
- Little or no sweating.
- Muscle cramps or weakness.
- Feeling hot and not able to cool off.
